Atfal from 11 Zones in the Central Region organized a sports festival concurently in their respective zones on 31st December 2022 and 1st January, 2023.

The Zones were Abura, Agona, Asikuma Bedum, Cape Coast, Ekumfi, Eshiem, Essiam, Gomoa East, Gomoa West, Mankessim and Twifo.

In his opening remarks at the start of the event, Maulvi Abu Basheer Donkor, the Gomoa East Zonal Missionary, expressed his joy for having witnessed such an activity that aims at engaging the Atfal and improving the health of the children. He advised the sportsmen to compete warmly and not to hurt themselves.

The Atfal engaged in football, volley ball, sack race and lime-spoon race. Other games played during the sports festival were ludu, draughts, table tennis, and cards.


The Regional Qaid, Mr Jamil Raham Nyame, was very grateful to the Zones and promised that the next sports festival would include many more sporting activities, and much appeasing rewards for those that emerge as best among the competitors.

In all, 258 Atfal from the region participated.


Sports has its unique way of boosting health, organizing a group and uniting individuals. The region, through the Nazim Sihat-e-Jismane (Health and Fitness Secretary) and Nazim Atfal proposed ways to ensure Zonal Qaideen to fulfill this year’s sporting activities.

The Atfal Sports Festival was aimed at keeping the Atfal engaged in Ahmadiyya while they are on holidays. It was also to serve as a platform to groom and scout potential sports players for regional and national competitions.
