The Upper West former Qaid Ilaqa (Mr Yusham Iddrisu) hands the baton to a new officer (Naa Hamid Abdulai). Naa Hamid Abdulai was the Naib Qaid to the outgoing Qaid and has acquired a lot of experience on the job. His vast experience over the years has boosted the confidence in members to believe that he is the right person to steer the affairs of the Majlis in the Upper West region for the 2023/2024 majlis year.
A handover ceremony took place at the central mosque of the Upper West region on the 14th of April, 2024. The ceremony was honorably graced with the presence of the Regional Missionary (Maulvi Masroor Ahmad Muzaffar), Regional President (Mr Ismail Salih), Naib Sadr for the Northern sector (Maulvi Abu Zulhaq Zakariah) and the Muhtamim Tajneed (Mr Wahab Sulaiman).
The outgoing Qaid has been the longest-serving Qaid in the region and has contributed a lot to the development and progress of the Upper West Jamaat. A Few of his achievements include; he was able to initiate and facilitate the procurement of an eleven-seater bus for the Majlis which has been of tremendous benefit to the Majlis and the Jamaat as a whole.
He also helped in extending the wall and space in front of the upper west mission house for enough operating space. He notably also acquired a land at Nimoro, a village under the Hamile and Filemuo zone in the upper west region and with the support of his Amila and other dedicated Khuddam, a mosque and mission house has been built on the land, Alhamdulillah. Although he also encountered some challenges during his tenure as the Qaid, he was very successful in his tasks as Qaid, Alhamdulillah.
The outgoing Qaid showed appreciation to his Amila by presenting certificates of honor to those who ended the journey with him as well as those who for one reason or another dropped out of his Amila, all officers were duly acknowledged.
The entire Majlis and the Jamaat in the Upper West region expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the outgoing Qaid for his efforts and also urged the incoming Qaid to leverage the achievements of his predecessor and do more for the Majlis and the Jamaat.
