Story by Fadl Rahman Essel, Muhtamim Isha’at, MKA Ghana

The Circuit Missionary of Gomoa Eshiem in the Central Region, Muallim Ismail Ansah has described Congregational Salat as a hallmark of righteousness.

He made this statement in a speech he delivered during the 42nd Annual National Ijtema’a of the Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Ghana at Asokore in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Muallim Ismail Ansah's speech drew from various Islamic teachings and texts to highlight the importance of congregational salat as an essential component of a righteous life. He recited a verse from the Holy Qur’an (2:22) that underscored the worship of the Almighty as a means to attain righteousness.

He emphasized the saying of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that "Prayer is real worship," highlighting salat's central role in Islamic practice.

Drawing on a hadith, the Missionary compared the daily prayers to an overflowing river that cleanses the worshiper, re-enforcing the idea that salat purifies the soul.

Again, he quoted verses from the Holy Qur'an (Surah Al-Maa’un: 5 & 6) that caution against unmindful prayers, reminding members that those who pray without focus or devotion would face the consequences.

The Circuit Missionary praised the practice of congregational salat, stating that it holds great rewards. He explained that according to a hadith, salat offered in congregation receives twenty-seven times greater reward than individual prayers. He therefore entreated members to value every aspect of salat from the performance of ablution to the observance of prayers at their appropriate time and place.

Muallim Ismail Ansah encouraged the participants to view their neighbours as those who can hear the call to prayer through the technology of loudspeakers, watches, cellphones, and other devices, emphasizing the importance of attending the mosque for congregational prayers.

The Circuit Missionary shared several inspiring stories of companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who overcame obstacles to attend congregational salat.

Maulvi Ismail Ansah concluded his speech by quoting Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (May Allah be his Helper), the Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, who encouraged Ahmadis to offer salat regularly in a congregation and to adorn their obligatory prayers with voluntary ones.
