Story by Mustapha Attah, Isha’at Nazim, Tarkwa Zone

Holy Quran chapter 76 verses 9 -10 states:

“And they feed for love of him, the poor, the orphan and the prisoner, Saying, 'We feed you for Allah’s pleasure only. We desire no reward nor thanks from you”.

Seven Aamila members of the Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya, Tarkwa Zone have donated assorted items to the Hiawa Prisons in Tarkwa, following the teachings of the Holy Quran.

The items, which were donated on 3rd June 2023, included twenty-five kilos of scented rice, five packets of carbonated drinks, five packets of toilet rolls, five bars of key soap, five kilos of washing powder, and eight sachets of purified drinking water.

Five copies of the Review of Religions magazine were also donated to the officials.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Officer-In-Charge of the facility, Acting OIC Supt. Samuel N. Bosomtwe was Chief Prisons Officer, Mr. Romeo Mensah.

He commended the Ahmadiyya youth for the visit while calling on other organizations and individuals to emulate the gesture.

CPO Romeo Mensah conducted the Aamila members around the facility. He also briefed members on their operations and highlighted some of the significant challenges confronting the facility's management.

This is the second time members of the zone have embarked on a visit to this correctional facility.

The prison is located at Hiawa, a town in the Western North Region of Ghana. The correctional center was built for only male prisoners. It can accommodate 200 prisoners.
