4th Tarbiyyat Session: "Unity in Diversity"

Introduction

Alhamdulillah, the 4th Tarbiyyat session of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Student Association, Ghana (AMSAG)-UCC took place on 29th November 2024 at LT-17. The session, themed "Unity in Diversity," aimed to foster greater understanding, tolerance, and cooperation among people of different faith backgrounds.

Attendance

The session was attended by 16 members of AMSAG and a yet-to-be-confirmed number of AMWSA members. Two representatives from the Ghana Muslim Student Association (GMSA)-UCC and the Apostolic Student Association (APOSA)-UCC each joined the session. Unfortunately, the Catholic Student Association on the UCC campus was unable to attend due to time constraints.

Programme

The session commenced at 8:20 p.m. with a melodious recitation from the Holy Quran by Deputy Imam Master Lanjimbu. Following this was an opening prayer by Ahmed Kassim, the Imam of AMSAG-UCC.

The President of AMSAG, Master Rauf Fere-eong, formally opened the session with a heartfelt welcome address. He expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah for making the convention a success and thanked the invitees for responding swiftly to join the session.

Speeches

The first speech of the night was delivered by Master Faiz Ato Darko, a learned member of AMSAG-UCC. Master Faiz emphasized that diversity is a sign from Allah, and despite our differences, we should strive for unity. He cited the Holy Prophet Mohammed's teachings, highlighting that all mankind is from Adam and that no individual has superiority over another based on their background. /P>

The second speech was delivered by Master Qudus Umar, President of GMSA. Master Omar expressed his joy in the speech delivered by Master Faiz and emphasized the importance of living harmoniously with others. He highlighted that, despite our differences, we unite under one Imam during prayer.

The final speech was delivered by Master Enoch, President of the Apostolic Student Association, UCC. Master Enoch shared a Bible quotation from Matthew 5:43-48, emphasizing the importance of loving our neighbors and enemies alike. He concluded by stating that every individual has a special gift, and through unity, we complement each other's gifts, eliminating weaknesses and building a successful community.

AOB Session

During the Any Other Business (AOB) session, Hafiz Majid, an AMSAG alumnus, reiterated the importance of unity. He used the human body as a practical example, highlighting how different parts work together in unison to produce a healthy and functioning human.

Master Luqman, a past president of AMMSAG, expressed his joy for the wonderful congregation. He shared his personal experience of overcoming tribulations with love and thanked the invitees for honoring their invitations.

Conclusion

The session concluded with a question-and-answer session, closing remarks by the Vice-President of AMMSAG, Master Nasirudeen Ghartey, and a closing prayer by Master Enoch. The session ended at 9:20 pm.

Recommendations

The success of this interfaith dialogue highlights the importance of unity and cooperation among people of different faith backgrounds. We recommend that such events be organized regularly to foster greater understanding and tolerance among students of different faiths.
