Spreading the Spirit of Eid-ul-Adha: Ahmadiyya Youth Reach Out to Forifori Prison Camp

On Saturday, 7th June 2025, the Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya (MKA), Nkawkaw Zone, in collaboration with the Afram Plains Circuit of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, undertook a heartwarming act of compassion by visiting the Forifori Prison Camp in the Eastern Region. In the true spirit of Eid-ul-Adha, the team donated food, drinks, and other essential items to over 200 inmates and officers.

The visit was not only about material support, but also aimed to uplift the spirits of the inmates through prayers, words of encouragement, and spiritual reflection. The event began with a brief gathering, during which various dignitaries and missionaries addressed the inmates and officers.

Muallim Jibraeel Osei, the Circuit Missionary for Afram Plains, opened the session by reciting a portion of the Holy Qur’an, reminding the inmates of Allah’s boundless mercy and encouraging them to seek forgiveness through sincere repentance. He emphasized that no sin is too great for Allah to forgive when one turns to Him with a sincere heart.

Hafiz Maulvi Abdul Rafiq Abakah, the Zonal Missionary of Nkawkaw, followed with a short address urging the inmates not to despair of the mercy of Allah. He concluded his remarks with a heartfelt prayer for the reformation and freedom of the inmates.

The Qaid Ilaqa (Regional Youth Leader) for Eastern Region, Mr. Harun Atta Ansong Hussain, was also present and gave a compelling message of empathy and hope. He stressed that none of the visitors harboured any negative judgments against the inmates, pointing out that prison can become anyone’s reality due to unforeseen circumstances or even wrongful accusations. He assured the inmates that their current situation does not define their future and prayed for their protection and rehabilitation.

Quoting the Holy Qur’an, Mr. Ansong shared the verse:
فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
“Surely, with hardship comes ease.” (Qur’an 94:6)

He explained that this divine promise offers assurance that their current struggles will eventually give way to relief and better days. He also encouraged them to learn from their past and avoid repeating actions that could lead to future incarceration.

The Acting Officer-in-Charge of the Forifori Prison Camp, Chief Superintendent of Prisons Jonathan N. A. Commey, expressed his deep appreciation to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for their selfless gesture. He acknowledged the difficulty of accessing the prison camp due to poor road conditions and commended the team for braving the journey to bring hope and celebrate Eid with the inmates. He also appealed to the mission for support in a poultry farming project intended to supplement the camp’s food supply through egg and meat production.

The donation was led by the Zonal Qaid of Nkawkaw Zone, Mr. Ismaila Frimpong, the Circuit President of Afram Plains, and other local leaders, including the Zonal Missionary. The items were handed over solemnly and respectfully, ensuring every recipient felt seen, valued, and remembered during this sacred celebration.

Alhamdulillah, the programme was a resounding success, beautifully embodying the message of Eid-ul-Adha: sacrifice, compassion, and unity.
