The Abura Zone witnessed a memorable and spiritually uplifting Eid-ul-Fitr celebration over the weekend, as members of the Jama’at gathered in large numbers to mark the end of Ramadan with gratitude, unity, and joy.
On , Cape Coast Stadium came alive with a vibrant atmosphere as over 2,030 members of the Jama’at assembled for the Eid prayers and celebrations. The gathering included 860 men and 1,170 women, reflecting strong participation and a deep sense of community across the zone.
The occasion was graced by the Zonal Missionary, Maulvi Abubakar Anderson, who delivered an insightful sermon on the significance of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. He highlighted the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, emphasizing how the holy month instills self-discipline, nurtures empathy for the less fortunate, and strengthens one’s relationship with Allah through fasting, prayer, and acts of charity. Speaking on Eid, he described it as a time of gratitude, unity, and the celebration of spiritual growth, bringing families and communities together in joy and reflection.
The event was a true reflection of togetherness and spiritual fulfillment, leaving attendees with lasting memories of unity and renewed faith.
Following the prayers, the Central West Regional Qaid, Abdul Hameed Mohammed Essuman, granted an interview to Joy News, where he urged the youth to stay away from drug abuse and embrace discipline. He stressed the importance of responsible living, self-control, and moral uprightness as essential values for building a stronger society.
As part of the celebrations, a series of recreational activities were organized to further strengthen bonds among members. On , the Khuddam of the Abura Circuit Jama’at took to the field at Bonkus Park for an exciting football match as part of the Eid festivities.
The Abura Khuddam team faced their Sunni Muslim brothers from Amissano, with additional participation from the CCTU student team. The match was highly competitive, with all sides displaying determination, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout.
After an entertaining 90 minutes, the Abura Khuddam emerged victorious with a well- earned 2–1 win over the Sunni team. Their performance was marked by coordinated attacking play, solid defending, and clinical finishing.
Beyond the result, the match served as a symbol of unity, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence within the Muslim community, highlighting the role of sports in fostering harmony and strengthening relationships.
The celebration concluded with indoor games and friendly interactions among various Jama’ats within the zone, rounding off a truly successful and fulfilling Eid celebration.
