Assalamualaikum Waramatullah wabarakatu. Being grateful to the Almighty Allah for making us witness another blessed month of Ramadan in our lives, AMSAG-UEW started the fasting on Tuesday 12th March, 2024 which was preceded by Taraweeh prayers on Monday,11th March, 2024.
On the first day, approximately fifteen members were present for maghrib, Isha and Taraweeh prayers. The number continued to increase as a result of awareness being created through our WhatsApp platforms. The format and Venue for this year's Ramadan was different as compared to previous years. This is because the leadership of AMSAG had chosen the north Campus, volleyball court which was the usual venue for the past years, for the first week of prayers and had also decided that in the subsequent week, prayers will be said in the South Campus, volleyball court. This was done to bring about Unity and cooperation among members and also to get members actively involved in the Ramadan activities. This is to say that, this year’s venue for our prayers was rotational.
Again, a flyer was designed by our media team led by Mr. Nazeer Ahmed Dadzie as part of measures to raise funds to support our Iftaar and the cost of transportation of materials like praying mats from south to north and vice versa. During this period, there were some activities carried out by Jamaat members. This included; Dars, Qur'an recitations, religious studies, questions and answers sessions and other matters relating to Ramadan.
Lastly, AMSAG UEW had the opportunity and honour to receive some members of the Khuddam National Amla-Ghana in the persons of Mr. Abdul Malik Hammond (Muhtamim Umu-e-Talaba), Maulvi Saleem Keelson (Muhtamim Tahrik-e-Jadid) and Mr. Wahab Adams (Central East Regional Qaid). They also encouraged us to take the holy month of Ramadan seriously and not to let it pass without benefiting from it.
